My CRT is almost screwed since it's shaking weirdly. I looked at some LCD stuff from Cnet and from the Hot Deals place, and here's some choices I came up with. I want to stay under 400, and closer to 300 if possible. One concern for 17" LCDs I have is the 1280x1024 resolution. Wouldn't that mess things up on a 3:4 aspect ratio?
Envision 7100E for $319. Looks decent, it gets tons of good reviews where people like the quality and the (lack of) ghosting. Cons: online only = I can't check it out instore.
Liquidvideo 17" LCD at Circuit City. Some off-brand, apparently branded by CC. But very cheap, and the reviewers have almost always liked the quality, including the (lack of) ghosting. Another pro: in-store means I can check it out. Cons: no DVI-D.
NEC 17xx Series. Cnet loved the 1700NX (about $399 street). They have felt that it was good all-around, and in addition, it has DVI-D. Too bad it's a good chunk more money than the models above.
Dell 1800FP: Sweet monitor when there's a ~$380ish hot deal. Too bad those rarely happen.
Any insight/suggestions? Any other models to look at? I'm leaning towards looking at some Liquidvideos in-store till I find a dead pixel-free one.
