old computer- help please!

hey- trying to fix an old- mid '80's?- server with a bad power supply- can i splice the plug from the old ps onto a new ps? thanks!😕

I wouldn't bet on it...

You'll need to have the diagram for the old ps. Especially which voltages are on which pins. Then... if and only if the same voltages are available in the new ps you can just splice on the old connector. But those old mid-80s 'puters used different memory, different (higher) voltage levels, etc. Therefore, you'll need to do your homework before trying. Fortunately, the old mobo will require higher voltages -- you shouldn't burn it up unless you get the wires all crossed around.
