old compaq question

I have an old compaq presario mini-tower model 9564 which has a video connector with only 14 holes. I want to use a newer compaq model S710 monitor but the new monitor has 15 pins in the video connector cable. Obviously, they will not work together. Is there an adapter that will allow me to connect these two together? Can I just carefully drill out the hole for the extra pin?

Being extra careful on how deep you drill the hole, I'd say you could.
