old Comdial phones are da bomb!

I install and support a few companies with Comdial (Vertical) 2 wire digital systems. One of them lost power the other day, and the backup generator came on. Should be no problem right? The room the phone system was in got too hot and the sprinkler system soaked everything down. Electrical panels, Dozens of breakers, battery backups toasted.
They dry it all out, and look at the phone system. It has rj11's for serial connections, and it had smoked the ends pretty bad. They crimped on new ends and the thing fires right up after a total soaking. I was able to get it and the voicemail/auto attendant going by talking them through from my house.

Oh. Thought you meant rotary phones and was going to say that they are underrated, considering how hard it was to drunk dial your boss at 3AM with a rotary phone.

But being indestructible is pretty cool too!

it was one of these with expansion modules on it. Notice the big ventilation holes, it got totally dunked by those sprinklers.
