Old but gold incidents caught on video.

Elderly drivers are a very minor concern, they are a LONG way down my personal list of "dangers of the road".

Now incompetent and/or intoxicated and speeding teenagers OTOH.....

🙄

I thought you were already passing as an "elder" even though you are "underage". 😛

Work in a hospital for a bit and its eye opening the amount of old people who absolutely shouldn't be on the road but are driving.
There should be mandatory medicals to retain a driving licence after a certain age.

By far the worst places to drive that I've personally been in the US are South Florida and parts of Arizona which are big retirement areas I have to admit.

oh jeez, i dunno what she's on, but that's some strong stuff

I'm on the road a lot & while I've never seen anything quite that extreme, I've seen a LOT of crazy stuff. People are just blissfully unaware. Especially for vehicles like big rigs, where you've got huge blindspots & highway hypnosis to deal with, as well as distracted & unaware drivers:

It is a U-shaped pattern. The young (inexperienced and typically not mature enough to understand and follow good driving habits) and the very elderly (possibly suffering from loss of mental function, reaction time, eye sight, etc) are the problems.

90% of people operating motor vehicles have no business being behind 1-2 tons of killing machine. If you aren't pissed off constantly while driving you are one of the 90%.
If you are "pissed off constantly while driving", you might be a road rager. If bad driving doesn't "impact" you personally...

There is a difference between road raging and being annoyed by how disrespectfully people drive. I'm not talking about raging. If you aren't in a constant baffled state wondering how humanity has survived on the roads so long you aren't paying enough attention.

Something similar to the below should be next to EVERY US highway on-ramp.... except they'll need a digital counter that reads up to the 1000's.

99% of "accident-avoidance" involves NOT BEING THERE when the inevitable happens.

If you watch the way the VAST majority of State Troopers drive you'll notice what they DON'T do is "go with the flow".... they move slightly faster whenever possible in order to maintain the "initiative".

This is also why it's actually SAFER for motorcycle-riders to weave traffic a lot of the time.... riding along at speed in a pack of cars = SITTING DUCK on a bike.

Once you really understand the "herd-mentality" most drivers get into when riding in traffic this all starts to make sense.

REALITY is that it's MUCH safer to be at "elevated risk" for a few seconds making a "tight-squeeze" move(s) in traffic to get past a pack of "rolling-drones" then it is to ride along in their midst for miles while they text and do make-up.

I've renewed my CDL for the last time. Next time it is due I'll be 66 and not wanting to work, not wanting to deal with the BS drivers, and not wanting to be a part of the problem either.
Every time I get on the road with my little 68,000 pound hammer, I see lots of nails that need driving. I make safe room in front of me and the shitheads fill in and cut me off.
