Old build, old OC, new BSOD's

I have had this build listed in my sig for close to a year now, running perfectly fine everyday without a problem. In the past week or so I've been getting bsod's on an almost daily basis. I get two different ones, one saying I have a hardware error, the other saying a device driver error.

I rolled back video drivers as I knew I had changed them around the time the bsod's started appearing with no change in frequency. I then decided I would try to isolate and test different components, much like I did when determining my OC. Well Memtest ran just fine for 12 hours with no errors, SuperPi completed the 32M test with a new fast time for me, but Prime95 crapped out almost immediately.

I started to then play around with the htt....I set it at 225 with a 10x multiplier and prime95 ran for 7 hours before I stopped it. I set it to 250 x 9 and it wouldn't make it past an hour if that.

My question is: What may have caused this? What cvan I try to do to alleviate or remedy the issue?

Thanks in advance!

I doubt that will make any difference, as it runs just fine at 2.8v and ddr500 in both superpi and memtest, but it can't hurt to try. Anyone else have any other ideas?

well....last time this happened to me, I decided to take the HSF off and maybe refresh the AS5....and when I got the heatsink off, behind it was a whole row of leaking capacitors : (

although I have two of the same boards, and no capacitor problems thus far.

I did have no end of problems with the BFG 6800GT and Neo2's, just couldn't make them play nice together....

could a mod move this to the overclocking section for me? I think I might get more help in there..... thanks

You might get more help on OCing in there, but before you leave here... humour me...

Try running chkdsk and scandisk on that drive. I've seen BSODs resulting from errors on the drive that can be remedied by this alone.

And most of all, good luck & I hope you find the solution to your problem 🙂

I don't think xp has scandisk anymore, but I will run checkdisk with the /r modifier now. Thanks for the suggestion....

CHKDISK ran just fine, no errors. Reseated the chipset fan, still buescreening.... 🙁 One step closer to just doing a reinstall......
