Hey guys...

Edited old thread.

So I got my 9400. I uninstalled all drivers from my old e1505, popped the hdd in the 9400 worked just fine.

But once I installed the nvidia driver I am having a weird wallpaper problem. The graphics work just fine.

Heres a screen shot of the problem... you will see what I am talking about.

Picture.

So what I am asking is how in the hell do I remove the horrible ati drivers.

EDIT:

Found a way that fixes it. All I have to do is make the desktop icons visible, I do not like this way because I hate icons.

Thanks.

667MHz CPU will not work on this motherboard - I am 99% sure. It will not fry the MB, but it will not boot.

Look for the motherboard model of this particular laptop, and find out what other 533MHz FSB CPU's Dell has been mounting in it. If you can find a faster/fastest 533MHz FSB CPU, this is your only option IMO.

Good luck!

EDIT: And if the only option is T5300, I do not think it is that much faster.

looking on ebay people sell the 9400 with the T7400 which is a 667 Mhz FSB cpu.

Did you use a driver cleaner between the uninstall of the ATI drivers and the install of the nVidia drivers?

By the way, why would you be using nvidia drivers if ATI drivers were installed initially?

Im trying driver cleaner now.

Because I got a different laptop, but I am using the same hard drive. I had a e1505, I now have a 9400/e1705.
