Old Athlon verses XPS 1710

Hello everyone ....this is my first time here on the forums!!! I am in the market for a Laptop. I am considering a Dell xps 1710 with merom t7600 and an nvidia 7950 gtx 512mb and 2 gb of ram. I presently have an Alienware Desktop with 2 gig of ram, an agp fx 5950 video card and a athlon 64 fx-51 processor. My question is mostly for gaming and music.....is there any info or sites that would tell me whether I will get the same, or less performance between these two systems?? I ask because if the performance is equal or better with the xps then I will buy but if it is less than I may wait or go with a Desktop. By the way The alienware is being given to my sis an I need a repacement. I know im comparing Desktop with Laptop ...which should always favor the Desktop but with advancement in technology........can anyone help with my decision?

I've played games on a 1710 with 7900GT GO and I can tell you it's much faster than the 5950 which is like 3 years old now. So yes it will be faster.
