old Arctic Cooler 64 question

I have an old Arctic Cooler running on my Opteron 165 right now.
I'll be switching over to a new AMD Phenom II X2 555... will that same cooler work on that CPU? Or do I need to get a new one?

I use the AC freezer pro on X2 555@4Ghz. It should work just fine, since they both are the same and my temps are good and stable 24/7.

is it the same attachment to the MB though? Same clips?

Nop, they use different mounting clips and the orientation is different too. Freezer pro air flow is from bottom to the top of the case, which is not optimal and only work if you have a fan on top of the case.

yeap. that looks to be the one I have. Fan pointed up.

I'm using that cooler on an AM3 socket, was originally on s939 board many years ago, is cooling an unlocked 550 with aplomb.

so I installed this all last night.
The orientation of the bracket that the A64 latches onto is different on the new MB. Now the fan has to face forward or back (not up).
I chose backwards, towards the outside of the case.
