I have an old Android Ver 2.3.6 Pantech CrossOver (P8000) and I would like to turn it into a dedicated Portable Media Player. Is there an easy way to do this? I mean the device can play music and videos but what I want is for it to stop asking for a AT&T SIM card and get rid of all of the phone apps (I have one but personally this device is a crappy phone but a great media player).

1. Disable the cell phone/GPS without it turning back on at the next boot
2. Keep the WiFi/Bluetooth enabled
3. Maybe have the Music/Video Player launch when the device is turned on

Has anyone done this before to an Android Phone before?

I would have liked to do so.
Gave my Droid to the VFW so they could sell it for charity. Thing went for 10 bucks.
Wish I had kept it as a dedicated music player.

Definitely root, then install a ROM for media players.

Can't you just use Tasker to do a boot launch -> Airplane mode, then enable wifi and bluetooth? Same thing for launching music player.

Yah, tasker can do all of that. I have a samsung galaxy epic dedicated to such a use. Runs my outdoor bluetooth speakers.

I finally got around to trying this and I am having trouble rooting the device. I extracted the files to the C drive and I ran command prompt and it says it can't find the device (I also tried running it as an administrator with the same results). The OS I am using is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
