Subject says it all .. I'm trying to fix this thing for someone. Upgrading isnt an option.. I can't see anything obviously wrong with it.. but sometimes it gets past 'wait......' and ends up at a blank screen, or the system info screen and stops there.. things like capslock and such still work, so it doesnt seem to be locked up..

Sounds like it's trying to detect drives. I'd try setting the size of the drives by plugging it into the cmos setup, instead of leaving it set to auto-detect.
I think there was another thing in there that you can change, as well, but I forget what exactly it's labelled. I had a board that would do that - it'd sit and say "wait" for about 10 seconds while nothing happened, then contiue to boot. For the life of me, I can't remember what is was. I'm thinking it might have been looking for an expansion IDE controller or a scsi card to initialize. I know there was a way to kill that, but it took so long to boot anyway, that I never bothered with it. :\
