I am putting a new system together Here is a list of my new parts
I have everything but the new video card (which will arrive next week), and am wondering if it is safe to use an old 1991 Video card to test and get things started on my MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum Motherboard?

It should work fine in the PCI slot. I was using Vesa Local Bus in 1991, so that must have been a pretty fancy card to be PCI back then.

What is the card? A PCI card will work just fine. Most 1991 AGP cards were 3.3v, the new motherboards take a 1.5v card and will not work with the 3.3v card. A 1.5v AGP card has three vertical slots.

Drivers..we don't need no stinkin' drivers. Everything looks just great at 640x480.

edit: if there were agp cards in 1991, my brain is shot, so much information - so little space.

Well, actually, there may be a problem. I don't know if they were the standard when PCI first came out, but there are 5V and 3.3V PCI cards. I believe that a few new motherboards do not support 5V cards. You may want to check with the manual.

I used my PCI Voodoo3 to get my nF4 running until my X800XL arived. It should work unless the card does not work.
