Oh well, they were stupid in their approach no matter how effective they were in exposing the malfeasance they found. Hopefully, they learned a lesson here.

I'm looking forward to seeing what other dirt these guys picked up before The Man shut them down.

:awe:

And, if the news stories I just read are correct, O'Keefe plans to continue his investigations and will break the results of one of them very soon now...

BTW, do you right wingers realize their prostitution "sting" on ACORN was a sham? The ACORN employee played along to get him to talk, then went straight to his friend in law enforcement and reported that the "pimp" was trafficking humans.

ONE ACORN employee (out of dozens filmed in many different ACORN offices) supposedly called her cousin in the police department. Take that with a big grain of salt as it would be easy enough to have her cousin later confirm an imaginary phone call to save her job and reputation. As to the wiretapping, they never had any evidence of ability or intent to do so, that's just a charge they tack on to make a plea bargain seem more palatable.

Still, I'm glad the prosecutors held out for some kind of guilty plea. Being a journalist (especially a self-appointed one) does not give one carte blanche to mess around a Senator's office and generally act like a douche. Personally I think thirty days in stir would have made the message a lot more clear, but if this was the best they could get then it'll have to do. Hopefully the Dems will be watching them like hawks to forestall any more illegal activity and generally douchebaggery.

but all the dems in congress missed this when the defunded them??? suuuurrre... and no matter what this is a great "ends justifies the means" story... all the guilty got whacked, including the sorta guilty protagonist of the story... maybe a scorsese-light film in there somewhere...

One of those involved in this was the son of the Western Louisiana acting US District Attourney's office.

Think there might have been some leniency invoked to lighten up the dregree of violation?

Quite possibly. This truth to power garbage is always safer if power is Daddy. That relationship should be grounds to push for harsher punishment IMO, but that doesn't happen in the real world. Power and privilege tends to take care of power and privilege.
