Confirmed. My host sucks at the internet.

The last few times I've posted some linkage off my site (see sig) I've had people bitch and moan about getting popups/ActiveX install attempts. That will happen if you 404 my host, yes, but not on a valid link.

But I have never, ever gotten a popup or ActiveX prompt off that site. And I run IE6. Furthermore, the host's AUP forbids the use of popup/under/behind/exit windows and ActiveX scripting doesn't even exist there. They attempt to issue a DoubleClick cookie for ad usage, but anyone who doesn't have untrusted cookies blocked just sucks at the internet.

So I ask you all - click the linkage and tell me what happens. Please include browser used, OS, and any other pertinent information.

Someone tack in the line "127.0.0.1 media.fastclick.net" into their HOSTS file, reboot, and tell me if you still get a popup. :p

BTW, my stats:

XP Pro SP1
Modified HOSTS file (but that would still give me a blank window if that was the issue)

Popups:
No browsers

No popups:
IE6 SP1 (1/1 cookies blocked)
Phoenix 0.5 (popup stopper OFF, cookies rejected)
Netscape 7.02

Everytime I open a pic from your site I get some sort of pop up. I have since stopped clicking on any links to your site.

OK here, no pop-ups. IE 6, XP Home SP1

Modified HOSTS file? What security settings are you running under IE?

IE 6, under security -- slider set at medium
under privacy, set at medium-high
no other modifications

Check the html source; there is some javascript which may be related to the problem.

edit: it seems that the javascript was inserted (probably generated automatically) by your host

Right, because the guy trying to stop the popups would bury the popup code in his own page.

That's the JS code for the DoubleClick cookie, added by the server.

That definitely isn't me. :p

I don't get it. The HOSTS file should still give me a blank window, if that's what I've got different.

I dont get pop-ups with the built in pop-up blocker with Opera 7.01, using Windows XP Pro.
