Okay to ship item on Craigslist?

I know it says to "avoid" it, but this guy wants me to ship my guitar amp head to him. Is there any way to go about this to ensure I don't get screwed?

is your head particularly rare? or are you asking a outrageously low price or something? i would not ship to ohio for a CL transaction.

I'm selling my Orange AD30HTC head for $750. It's in good condition. Brand new the cheapest you can find them are $1500 online so I'd say it's a pretty good deal, and you don't see a lot of these used even on ebay.

I've shipped a computer from California to Texas through craigslist. He paid me through paypal with a confirmed address and everything went smoothly

I don't trust paypal anymore. Last time I sold something with paypal I got all the money into my account and I shipped the item and then the entire transaction was reversed due to "unauthorized use" and I lost my item and all my money. I don't understand why paypal lets that happen.

Tell him he must send a USPS money order, and send it certified with signature return so you have proof of who got it.

Of course charge him for all those additional USPS fees.

Outside of that, I would not deal with them.

isn't craigslist supposed to be for local transactions?

no...I buy stuff from all CL locations

wasn't that it's intended reason for creation though? i mean, why have craigslists for different cities? ebay doesn't have different sites for different cities.

thats true...but if I am looking for something specific and my city/area doesnt have it, I will search other locations for it

This sounds like your safest approach.

That's what you get for leaving money in a PayPal account.
