Okay to overclock p2.4a using Intel stock HSF?

Is it okay to do it? If so, what the max speed I should do it to be safe or OC to the CPU max potential because Intel stock HSF can handle it. THanks for your help.

Sorry robotcholi, Intel doesn't recommend OCing your CPU.

I had a 1.8 with an Intel cooler and got it to 2.2, but put a Thermalright HSF with a 80mm CoolerMaster on it and took it to 2.5 and change. I just kept and eye on the temps, and when they where to high for me I stopped.

You should be able to oc it some. But I would buy a nice hs if I were you. Possibly a thermalright, zalman, etc. Some nice brand like that.

Well, you pretty much can't fry a P4 by overclocking/overheating it, so don't worry about that. It will just clock throttle if you get it too warm, and you'll definitely notice that.

You can ruin it by overvolting it though, and your HSF won't help you there. So don't get crazy with the vcore. 😀
