Okay, this is stupid... Drive A using MS-DOS compatibility mode...

Even though it doesn't really matter, how do I get rid of it? Should I try unplugging the device and then "reinstalling" it?

Problem solved. I uplugged it while I was fiddling around with a hard drive and forgot to plug it back in. :eek:

MS-DOS compatibility mode is when Win95/8 uses an old disk driver or is not using 32 bit options. It decreases performance, which is why you are getting that message. Go to control panel, system, performance tab, advanced, file system, troubleshooting - clear the check box "disable all protected mode disk drivers" yes restart. If you go to MS Knowledgebase, do a search on MS-DOS compatability mode. Here's a good article to start with : MS-DOS Compatibilty Mode
