Okay, should I move to Puerto Rico?

I've got my degree and don't plan on marrying anytime soon -- can I realistically make a life for myself in Puerto Rico?

Do you know spanish? Even if you don't I think you would be able to pick it up pretty easily. And I heard English is pretty common there. The weather must be nice.

I'd go for it if I were you. Find yourself a nice senorita, good job, and spend your days off sitting on the beach with your girl and a rum and coke.

Puerto Rico is the red headed step child of the US. They want to have our culture, our currency, and most importantly our protection and support. But they don't want to become a state of the union... Bunch of mooches...

I understand Puerto Ricans don't pay US income tax, yet they are U.S "nationals". So if a U.S citizen moves to Puerto Rico and lives there an entire year, would that make them exempt from income tax as well?

It is an interesting question that I would like to know the answer to.

Um, the U.S. took possession of P.R. They didn't glom on to us. It may help to learn just a little history before you insult an entire culture, mang.

Really, hmmm. My parents vacationed there a few times and said there was a lot of poverty, so I always thought that it would be a bit cheaper to live there. My girlfriend doesn't want to live in the states when we get married and wants to move to canada, but I absolutly hate cold weather. This is sounding like a very nice alternative.

I'll translate for you whenever you need it.

You : Tell them that I want a nice apartment that has a nice view but isn't too expensive.
Me : Si senor. El le gusta los hombres. No, las mujeres no son que el queria. Envie las mujeres muy lejos de el. Solamente los hombres para mi amigo.

:D

Its not all cold. Okay, depends what you mean by "cold". Where I live, I rarely see snow (one day a year usually, none this year at all) but a lot of rain (but, not much this year either). This past month, daytime is up around 50, and nights are low 40s. Its the pacific breeze.
