I have a limit of $800.00 and I was wondering what I should get? This limit must include a copy of Windows XP Home and a monitor.

You a gamer?

look at the system suggestions at the top of the forum, or use the search button to find the many others threads asking basically the same thing. Not trying to be rude, but there is a lot of good information already out there.

I only posted on here, hoping to get last minute suggestions, I read the buyers guide, they dont have a configuration for $800.00. I'm trying to find out the main specs I should get; video card, cpu, mobo, ram, etc... Thanks for any help.

DIY system if you're a gamer.

An $800 limit gives you a little room to work with, but not much.

For $440, you can get a:

Athlon 64 3000+ s939
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo
1GB Kingston Value RAM

then add the video card (anywhere from $130 to $500 depending on what you want) although I'd go with a 9800 Pro or 6600 GT or something, as you don't have a huge budget with that.

If you need a case get the Antec Super Lanboy for $40. If you do that, you'll need a new PSU. Since you're on a budget, I've no clue what to get. Probably a cheap Antec or something.

Another option is to go with an outpost.com combo deal and get a Sempron 3100+ w/mobo.

Buy the monitor locally, as shipping one will kill you. XP is pricy too (I got XP pro for $5 as a college student, but normally it's rediculously expensive)

The other option is to get a Dell which will include XP. You'd have to wait around for a big sale though, which could take a little while. This won't run games nearly as well though.

Just my thoughts though.

Considering you need a monitor and XP Home, you'll basically be looking at $500-$550 for parts, depending on what monitor you get. I would suggest

Am I missing anything or is this good? All from newegg. Should I change anything? This is for my little brother, he is a gamer.

Yes, this is without a monitor, but I'm going to purchase a monitor from bestbuy or circuit city. Is that an alright setup for games such as World of Warcraft and City of Heroes because those are his favorite.

Sounds like a great budget gaming system, but I would get a better quality PSU. Go Antec 400. A mere 55$ @ newegg!

Okay I changed the case from that to an antec which includes and antec PSU 350W for only $20.00, nice case, nice psu. Just making sure... any more changes anyone? Preparing to order as we speak.

Just making sure I didnt forget anything, someone please double check the list, I also got threw in a mouse, keyboard, and plantronics headset. :-D

Okay, scratch the plantronics, ill get sennheiser with the money im saving with the windows "from other sources." Thanks for the advice.
