That scans 8x11 hand drawn pictures well as well as printing these kinds of pictures with good quality?

I'm thinking a Canon or Epson, but I don't know which models. $400CDN at MOST please.
 
sorry, but i cant suggest a specific model, but i can a brand. HP. my aunt just got one from staples, and if she can figue it out...

edit: not sure why i said anything after HP. i guese im just really tired, and had a brain fart or something
 
If you must get an all-in-one printer/scanner, this HP should handle her needs.

HP Officejet 6210

I personally prefer separate printers and scanners but if its for her use, this could fit the bill.
 
I absolutely love my Dell 962 AIO, the ink cost is a little higher down the road, but the features and quality are both great.
 
I'm in Canada. The eBay listing you gave me is actually half of what I have to pay at a place like futureshop, but they don't ship to Canada...
 
And for those recommending stuff, how is the quality of colour prints? Line art? For both the scanner AND printer of course.

Speed isn't the most important issue here.
 
I say any but HP.

I own a HP 2110xi scanner/copier, and have had nothing but problems with it. The hardware works well when it wants to, but half the time it fails to initialize properly. The software is bloated, and leaves several processes running in the background even when it's not being used, consuming system respources (a big pet peeve of mine).
 
I been looking into a all-in-one printer myself. I think I narrowed it down to HP OfficeJet 6210 and the Canon PIXMA MP780 so far. The HP can be found about $35-$40 cheaper than the Canon. So far all consumer reviews between the two are about the same. Still looking around and comparing.
 
Considering the Canon MP500. Seems like the colour quality is excellent.

And it'll only slighty break the bank.

The AIO units are for one's basic needs,
If you want quality, you need separate hardware.

My students and I use this printer for excellent prints and documents. It is wide format and can print small or large photos.
HP Deskjet 1220c

Here's an excellent scanner that will reproduce any picture, etc.
HP Scanjet 6350c
 
I've heard some very positive reviews on the MP500. And the worst reviews are only nitpicking a bit...

Is there anything about it specifically that you don't like?

Or are AIO's in general not the best for quality in your experience?
 
Let's say you'll get satisfactory prints, copies and the like, on the Canon.
I have had students who had the AIOs when they first started, but with experience, they have all changed to separate printers and scanners, next came separate fax machines and even color copiers, like the HP 190 and up.
But if you are very discerning, get separate units, or if economics play a factor, then go with the MP500.
It always comes down to your choice.
