i don't think friends really care for money among friends (except maybe a wedding thing). take her out, celebrate, and cover the bill

yeah, I don't think I'd really want money from a friend. Sure money is cool and all, but I'd be like, wth is my friend giving me money. Get something that's a) useful and you know he needs and will last more than week or b) something that has some sort of nostalgic/sentimental/symbolic value.

I know my sister just got her bf a nice citizen watch, I know she was also thinking of a leather folio.

spend the money and get a gift. A watch, nice pen, ipod, i dunno, something. Even if it just ends up with you taking the person out to a nice place, picking up the tab. If it's a guy get a tie, or stuff.

Basket to put stuff in to carry back and forth.
Flip Flops
Lounge chair/pillow from Target
Roll of quarters/Laundry detergent

If near you, offer a coupon book of personal coupons.
YOU will do what the coupon says.
Wash her clothes, take her out to dinner, offer as a designated driver
