so what can I get if I want a sedan/coupe that has good gas mileage, sporty yet mature look (and under 30K)

under the "good gas mileage" category:
I picked Mazda3, Mazda6, Matrix, Corolla, Camry, Accord, Altima, Scion xA, BMW 3-series, Lotus Elise. :)))

under the "good gas mileage" AND sporty look:
I've taken out Corolla, Camry and Accord 4 doors.

under the "good gas mileage" AND sporty look AND mature look:
Mazda3 and Corolla and the xA are out

then after the "under 30k" requirement
the 3-series and Elise are out :(

what's left are Mazda6, Solara, Accord Coupe, Altima (all with the inline4)

so, what are YOUR picks? (and did I leave any cars out that would fit into these categories? I left out basically all American cars because I don't know much about them)

Acura TSX.

Also IS300. Although the "adult look" requirement would be questionable. A pre-owned BMW 330CI would be a good bet as well. Decent milage, as good, if not better than the Mazda 6.

i dont know if the z loooks mature..... i agree with the tsx reccomendation. more mature looking than the x imo. 3 series and accord coupe are definately ones to consider as well.

:)

and thanks for the Z recommandation, it is a very nice choice and i didn't knew it was under 30k. Its gas mileage could have been better though... but i guess that's what you get for 280 horses. darn. :) :p
hum, speaking of which, the Mazda RX8 is under 30k no?

Base Z is under 30k, I got mine for 31.5 out the door, one step up from the base model. The gas mileage is decent, (get around 23 w/ city/freeway mix, hit 26 on freeway only)

The RX8 IS under 30k, but it's no where near the performance of the Z, But it does have 4 seats.

TSX is under 28k.... whao. Currently that and Mazda6 is topping the list.

about the IS300 and G35: Personally I think there are too many of them on the street, while the TSX is kinda on the rare side. Of course by the same argument the BMW 330 will fail too as the IS and G35 would, but hey, its a BMW, i'll let the 3-series pass. :)

The TSX just came out, how can you compare it's numbers to the IS300 and G35... In a few years it'll be the same.

i bet in 3 year time it still can not be as many TSX as IS300 or G35. I don't think TSX will sell well despite being such a good car. (i think OS is shaking his head now)

TSX or TL are sweet looking sports cars. Don't forget the spoiler.

If you get a TSX save the money and just get an accord. The TSX is actually the european accord. Besides the V-6 Accord would be faster than the TSX. The other car I recommend is the Mazda 6 V-6

TL is uber-nice, mature, and fast.... but it is a bit over the 30k mark, which itself is already hard to swallow.

2004 Scion xB

"The xB seems that way at first, like the automotive equivalent of body piercing. It looks like a squashed hearse, squat and low-down and boxier than a tractor-trailer. The design is so unusual that it stands out in traffic like purple hair at a retirement home. "

The RX8 can go around the track just as quickly as the 350Z. I remember the top gear video and he said it was a very fun car to drive.
