Okay, let's say you are in this position.

You must give up one finger by means of amputation. Which finger do you choose?

I say take my middle finger. It would seem to be the least necessary one...other than flying the bird of course😉

Ring finger on my left hand probably. Although I do use it for typing. But otherwise it seems like the most useless. I've never liked the way the tendons on ring fingers worked anyway. In fact, I'm going to cut it off right now just because of that, for no reason at all.

I think I'd go without one of the pinkies. I need my ring finger for future marraige; the middle finger for obvious reasons; the index finger for picking my nose and my thumb for sitting on.

Exactly, I would choose your middle finger.

You said I had to give up a finger, but you didn't exactly say it had to be one of my own.

Hello,

I am writing to inform you that a few months back we celebrated a holiday around the world called New Years. I won't get into the specifics but basically a year has 365 days. Every time this holday occurs we go to the next year. Now we are in 2006. If you need anymore explanation feel free to ask.

Sincerely
PurdueRy

Hello,

I am writing to inform you that a few months back we celebrated a holiday around the world called New Years. I won't get into the specifics but basically a year has 365 days (except for leap years, which have 366 days and occur once every four years. However, this concept is beyond the scope of your understanding). Every time this holiday occurs we go to the next year. Now we are in 2006. If you need anymore explanation feel free to ask.

Fixed.

Ring finger on my left hand. I could still write and type reasonably well that way, and I could still play guitar with the fingers on my left hand.
