Okay, I need a house phone

Update: Went with a vTech system, thanks everybody! Scroll down for review post 🙂

I want to get one of the wireless phones that has a base station, then seperate bases that are power-only. There's a number of them at Staples and I can't remember which brands are good. Any suggestions? I need the base station phone plus 2 or 3 other remote stations.

Panasonic, the handsets are the best. The batteries will die less than a year in, but you can get replacement panasonics on ebay for <$5 each.

My phones came in and are working great. I picked up the vTech mi6861 base unit and 3 extra vTech mi6820 handsets. The system allows you to have a total of 4 handsets altogether. Setup was cake, I didn't even read the instruction manual. Only the base unit needed to be plugged into the phone line; the rest have some sort of wireless communicators. The handset bases were suprisingly lightweight; I wouldn't mind if they made them a bit heavier! In addition to performing normal wireless phone functions, this setup also includes the following:

-Speakerphone on each handset (nice!)
-Intercom system (call another handset in the system)
-9 different ringtones; seperate ringtones for outside calls and intercom calls
-Ringtone volume adjustment and mute
-Handset volume control (it can actually get pretty loud!)
-Small size (similar to cell phones from a few years ago)
-Push any key to answer the phone
-Conference calling with other handsets
-Call forwarding to other handsets (like if you're talking to your grandma and are too lazy to go downstairs to give it to the other person, you just push the Intercom button and the Handset number - 1, 2, 3, or 4 - and it rings their phone)
-Excellent sound quality

I set the base unit up in the kitchen, one handset in the living room, one handset in the basement, and one handset upstairs. To tie the extra handsets into the base unit, you just have to punch in the number underneath the base unit after you plug in the battery. I'm very suprised at how well the phone network functions; it's been completely flawless so far. I am very impressed. The models I picked up were the vTech mi6861 base unit with handset ($66) and the vTech mi6820 extra handset ($40). You can add up to 3 extra handsets for a total of 4 handsets. A full system like that will run about $186. Very pricey but man what a nice system! I'm very pleased with this purchase and I'm sure I will have a hassle-free phone system for years to come.
