Congrats, sort of. At least you got it. You knew they were going to make it retroactive, but that's a b!tch. Yeah, I'd start looking for another job, good luck.

Some employers aren't interested in paying a fair salary, they hope you'll still stick around and put up with it. Get a better paying job somewhere else

Exactly what I was thinking... I know if I perform my job perfectly and 'above and beyond' as I have been for the past year, that I won't get the same accolades because hey look, just 8 months ago he got a promotion! And it seems closer because my boss took 4 months to actually get it done.

I am looking hardcore now but I have a feeling that I won't find anything until the new year comes around. I am however, holding out for a position I find appealing.

I just got a good raise today. I can't really get too much of a promotion as we are a fairly flat organization. I'm either a PM or the company President.

Only you can know what to do. If your gut is saying this is a bunch of BS, it probably is. I would start looking for another job and then let them know you are leaving. Sometimes they will come crawling, others just let you go.

But always have a backup plan ready before making any decision.

Wow what a bunch of BS. I hate it when companies string you along with promises they never keep.

I know how it feels, I'm in a similar situation. Good luck with your job search!

Owned.

Demand any promotion or salary in writing.

Sorry to say this, but they are lubing you up and sticking it in good.
