I don't hate Rome: Total War or Rise of Nations,i just need something to play,i prefer games similar to RoN or RTW,and i also like Naval Combat or Aerial Combat Sims, and i don't mind FPS games, games i played and liked:

Mainly a single player person BTW,and i prefer cheap games if possible, since i can get more of them

Rome: Total War.
Rise of Nations.
Crysis.
Battlestations: Midway (Had it for 360 when i had one, maybe i should get it for PC?)
Blitzkrieg (Anyone know where i can find this new?)
Mount & Blade (Not bad for a beta IMO)

Games i hated/didn't care for (I know a lot of cultists/fanatics/whatever you gonna call them will flame me for some of this,so please go away)

Civilization 4.
Sins of a Solar Empire.
Starcraft.
Age of Empires series in General, though i still have 2 installed as a last resort.
Supreme Commander.
CoD series.
Medieval 2: Total War.
World in Conflict.
Empire Earth (Won't play because my PC hates it)

Tried to remember as much games as possible that i liked/didn't like so please don't flame if you post something that i tried and liked/didn't like.

EDITED: Added more games that i remembered.

Blitzkrieg Anthology, cause you asked: http://www.amazon.com/CDV-Soft...&qid=1208291966&sr=1-1

Warfront: Turning Point

Farcry

Blitzkrieg 2 since you liked the first

Codename Panzers series

World In Conflict

LOTR BFME I & II

Dawn of War

and, for something completely different, History Channel Battle of Bull Run: http://www.amazon.com/History-.../ref=pd_sim_vg_title_4

I didn't play that last one, nor a few of the others - just going by reviews...

Edit - Battlestations Midway looks like fun too.

The original was pretty pimp. They had a good formula.

It's kind of risky since there is a love/hate thing....try Darwinia.

I loved it myself.

Man EE... Gotta love those guys. Had a strat game where a round would usually last 5+ hrs and they release an expansion that adds 2 new epochs... making games last eight hours.

Was fun... except trying to find your enemies last building on a massive map because every single building had to be razed to win.

I came into this topic just to suggest Starcraft V_V

I guess it is pretty mediocre if you don't play multiplayer.

You might give Stalker a try, it is a cross between a role playing game and a first person shooter. I got it last summer and while I've had a few months down time between upgrades and RMAs I'm still playing it.

That's actually saying a lot because like you I'm thrifty (well, actually I'm just a cheapskate) and I've been buying a lot of new and used PC games at bargin prices over the last 18 months. I've still got more than 50 that I haven't even played yet still sitting on the shelf waiting, some of which I've really been looking forward to. I've seen it going pretty cheaply lately so if you look you should be able to find it at a reasonable price.

The only thing you need to do is make sure you have a computer that can run it with full dynamic lighting before you buy. If it can't it would be better to wait, the difference is night and day without it.

Act of War and World In Conflict.

They get back to REAL strategy, as opposed to click-fest resource wars, which is what many RTS's actually are.

It's odd to me that you like Rome but not M2TW, they are basically the same game aside from the period.

I have started playing M2TW again with the retrofit mod(which incorporates the new features in Kingdoms) and am remembering how much I like it.

I've also been playing a lot of SH:IV, this can be very enjoyable with the right mods if you like submarines. It's just a huge time sink, I can spend 2 hours or more just attacking one convoy.

But overall I would say I'm on a PC gaming drought, there aren't any titles coming out before the holidays that I'm really itching to play so most of my gaming lately has been on the PS3.

Medieval 2 has shittier AI (Knights charging into spearmen randomly anyone?),and you have to deal with cities & castles recruitment system, plus i can mod Rome to my own desires,i tried the same for Medieval 2,it didn't work (For example,i want to mod the units attack, defense, etc and the buildings cost and time to build,i can't do that in Medieval 2,but i can in Rome)
