Okay, can we be a little more melodramatic?

what the hell is up with people who turn EMAIL of all things, into some sort of epic struggle? i have this lady who is getting like 5 mailer daemon messages and she refers to this as "being beseiged" and describes herself as being "slightly frantic". meanwhile, i have a guy who cries out that he is getting "a huge number of spam e-mails" and illustrates his point by describing how he had to delete 7 entire emails all in one night! "something needs to be done!" it's a "waste of staff time to delete these messages".

i don't understand. it takes seconds for me. am i missing the long way for doing this?

Sounds like my parents. :p

Somehow the motherboard and processor I put in their computer causes them to get more spam.

Just e-mail them back telling them that the only way to get rid of spam is to kill themselves and be reincarnated into a perfect world.

I actually envy people who have nothing more serious than that in their lives to worry about.

Right now I have 638 new messages in my hotmail box and none of them are from people I know. Thank you. Thank you Bill Gates for pimping my name around like I'm some kind of $3 whore. Thanks a lot.

I figured it out a while ago & I'm getting about 200 spam e-mails a day (actually about 50/day x 4 accounts, but they all go to the same inbox, so I don't really notice the difference).

you know, if we took all the power used from spamming computers and perhaps concentrated it on research, we'd probably have:

A: A cure for cancer
B: One hell of bundle of SETI WU's

Heh. Trust me, I know.

You know, I really should complain more to you then. You know how many complaint phone calls I get when homer goes down? (I work for Biostat, BTW).

Technically I'm the webmaster. But at the UW, that doesn't really matter - we're all "computer guys" to the faculty. :D That's ok, though; there's definitely job security.

And honestly, we send all our complaints directly to netops, but it'd be fun to have someone else to bitch to. :D

ain't that the truth... thank god for the "transfer" button :D

oh so true. best student jobs on campus as well, well in c&c at least, i would never want to be a lab monkey (uwired).

you know we should have some interdepartmental computing support staff wars sometime... that would be amusing :p
