Guess this is more of a mini rant/soap box speech more than a post with a point.

My local Fox news station is cashing in on this whole Internet meet up sting operation (ala Stone Phillips pwning pervs).

The thing is, in all of the spots they've had for this upcoming "Must see, shocking news story" they seem to act like it was their idea all along.

I guess it's no big deal that they're milking it for ratings because in the end it gets pervs off the streets and brings more awareness.

Personally I think this also reflects on our society and more specifically, bad parenting. I can't imagine my son doing some crap on the internet that I would know about or have taught him to watch out for from the beginning.

It begs the question that if you're going to let your son's and daughters use the internet (listen up resident ATOT 13 year olds) then shouldn't the parents have a mandatory "talk" with them on this crap. Sort of like the "sex talk" parents have with their kids.

The thing I find funny is that these dumb fvcks are stupid enough to fall into these stings. I mean, they have to go into that knowing there's a chance something like that could happen. Is it so bad that they totally disregard that risk all together.

If so, that's a sickness, and as soon as they're out of jail they'll be right back at it. People like that need to be cured or kept locked up for life.

*zips up flame suit*

I love it when they actually get caught and the reporter says "what are you doing here?" and the suspect responds with a "Oh, I was lost" or "Oh, I was just dropping off some cookies"

lol

it is true that it IS a sickness.
Many have been caught/arrested before and once out of jail, they go right back to it.

It is frightening to see so many young people out there unknowing.

The accused arent the only one that are sick. Turning the criminal justice system into entertainment has almost equally dire repercusions as the crimes these people are charged with.

While I agree with that I also note that as gaudy as it is to do this for ratings it actually may save a kid or two from going through this. If it shocks a parent into being more involved in their childs life and educating them about the perils of this crap on the internet then I'm all for the sensationalization of it.

I agree. Go ask people if they thought things like this were happening. Obviously if they are catching so many people so quickly it's a lot more widespread than previous thought.

Exactly, now Fox/Dateline get what, 5=6 people a week? That's just in one city, with one decoy. Multiply it by 1,000 being ultra conservative and nation wide there must be 10's of thousands of adults hooking up with underage kids every year.

it is a sickness. Like a drug addict. The addicts know its ileagal to do and buy drugs, but they do it anyway. Its the same thing with Pedo's They know the risks they are taking, But the sickness is too strong to resist.

I agree that pedos should be in jail for life. there is no cure.

Did you guys see the one where the guy gets completely naked and stands in the house waiting for the "girl" to come downstairs. He gets busted right there on the spot, naked and all. The reporter tells him "just sit down, and put this towel over yourself." The guy's face was priceless as he went on with the interview/questions completely naked.

I think I should start a gallery website with the photos of the pervs faces when a reporter walks out instead of a the child they are expecting.

And to add to krunchkromes comment... my favorite is when they say they are coming to help the child and teach them about the dangers of sex and the internet.

It is sad. The sickness can be cured though, but the person has to realize it is something that needs to be cured. A lot of these people rationalize it and think that there is nothing wrong with it. It is sad.

If they re-offend or do something really bad, neuter them!
