Okay, here's the question. How OFTEN does the VR (Voltage Regulator) becomes a defect on Asus A7v?

Sorry, another question,

also, where is the chance of it coming with the defective VR when purchased your Asus A7v?

Much replies appreciated.

It may be possible, but ASUS makes pretty good stuff, so I doubt it.

What problem\s are you having, could it be your power supply?

The voltage regulator of a friends A7V consistently defaults the Vcore of his T-bird 800 MHz to 1.80 volts, although he has flashed it with every bios possible.

Anyway, this is not a big deal, but it gets somewhat worse considering the Asus voltage monitoring utility refuses to read anything but 1.80 V from his motherboard, even when he manually sets the voltage to 1.75 in the bios. In the bios "hardware monitor" screen it says 1.75 V, at least, so it's bios against Asus monitoring utility... :)

By the way, should the voltage for a T-bird 800 be 1.70 or 1.75? It sure isn't supposed to be 1.80 V, but maybe AMD decided to "increase yields" from the bottom up?

Also, could you perhaps describe your own problems so I can tell my friend he's not alone?

:)
