OK, your car advice helped. But now...

I have no idea where the air filter is on my car, or even what it looks like. I cannot find anything useful on the internet.
Chiltons books are useless, as well as the other comapany that makes thoes paperback books.
Someone said they were a former mitsubishi mechanic on my last post.
Well if anyone can help with a diagram of the engine on my car, or even information on where the air filter is, what it looks like 😀.
I own a Mitsubishi 1992 Expo LRV Sport.
Help me, Im a car illiterate computer geek!!!
 
I bought the book with my car in it.
Only has the engine size.
I took a week to search it out. Its not in the book.

In my car right in front is what seems to be the air filter.
There is a big black box that actually houses the filter.
Then a black hose that goes to the injectors.
Would that be the hose that I remove and spray the cleaner into?
 
Air Filter:

Stop off at Home Depot and purchase 4 furnace filters size 24"x18". Roll all windows down and duct tape the filters in place of the windows. Sit in car and take normal breaths. Your air is now filtered. 😉😛😎:disgust:😎😛😎:disgust:
 
Did you look on the owners' manual? If you don't have one order it. It should show you all kinds of maintenance tips.
 
if you don't know where the air filter is in on your car, you should probably do like a girl and take it to autozone or pep boys, act stupid and they'll change it for you.

 
it probably looks like a box with a hose going to the engine. Like you said. Unscrew that box and your filter should be there.
 
The filter box should have a LARGE plastic hose coming out of it. I'm thinkin maybe 2.5 to 3 inches in diameter. Open the box and you should see the nice pleates of the dirty filter.

Yes I found the Air filter, but thats not the issue.
I need to clean the throttle body, because my engine does not idle consistantly, it goes from 1000-2000 then 1000, etc etc.
I was wondering if thats where I sprayed the cleaning substance to make all the gunk from the intake go away. It goes straight to the engine block so I was not sure if I should spray anything in there.
So Im ok with that. But on my way to the autoparts store I noticed that my engine was overheating.
Quickly drive home to look under my hood and see a nice little green stream of radiator fluid spewing out.
Now Im in some serious repairs.
Can the year get any worse
 
You have SERIOUS issues, son. There were 7 responses to your question, other than your own. 6 OF THEM were useful. Yes, even the one about acting like a girl at Autozone. Because, if you don't know enough about your engine to KNOW WHERE THE DAMN AIR FILTER IS, you ARE a girl, as far as that car is concerned, and you have NO BUSINESS getting under the hood of the car. EVER.

Owners manual is in mostly japanese, which is well umm useful..yea.
I don't know where something is, so I ask, because I want to LEARN. So say someone does not know what a HARDDRIVE looks like in their computer. Do you all come on and act like they are a completely retarded schmuck and tell them to look at their compaq owners manual?
I take it to a shop, it costs me $50 an hour for labor, thats why im NOT bringing it in yet.
But of course ive had one person actually help me on here, he was wingnut pez, he actually put useful information into a post.
Nut bucket hit it right on the head, I was looking at the houseing for a bit and decided to take it off, and there is my BRAND NEW CLEAN FILTER I JUST HAD REPLACED.
Now its time to clean the throttle body.

 
What a whiny little bitch you are. Poor little girlie. Well, just so you know, coming from a mechanic....if you can't find your air cleaner, you will NOT be able to properly clean a throttle body. I feel sorry for you. So much rage, and so little know-how. I suggest you cry about it some more. 🙂

OK...so, a guy who can't find his air filter is insulting people who write books based on a COMPLETE TEARDOWN AND REBUILD of an entire car? Hmmmmm....OK..... Seems to me those people PROBABLY KNOW where the air filter is. If for no other reason than that they have had it in their hands.

Man if you're leaking coolant and have trouble finding the air filter........just take it to a mechanic. It will be cheaper than having to pay someone to fix it if you mess it up.

Spray the throttle body cleaner in, it will loose the crud and it comes out the exhaust.
 
If your throttle body/injectors are dirty, the easiest way to clean them is to use fuel additive. Can you find the gas cap? 😉
 
Don't bet on it. They usually hide them behind doors that are made to HIDE THEM from the owner of the car! The makers of these cars didn't know what they were doing. They even went so far as to paint the little door that hides the cap the SAME COLOR as the car! How are you supposed to know you're even supposed to open that door? And I swear it's not in the manuals. 😉
