err...what version of windows do you have?

is the floppy bootable?

is your BIOS set to check the floppy first?

I am running xp...I had bios set to boot from from floppy, and when that didnt work I switched to cd....still no luck, I get the menu where I can boot into safe mode but thats it

IIRC, I didn't think you had the option to boot to DOS w/ Win XP rudeguy 😕

obviously need the floppy as XP has no DOS

What version of DOS is on the floppy? Are you sure the boot disk works? Does it seem to be accessing the floppy before booting as normal?

i'm basing this off my win2k knowledge, of which xp is but a frou-frou upgrade, but it doesn't have dos... so unless the floppy has dos on it... you're not getting to dos anytime soon

hmm...good point...I never booted into dos with this floppy...but my win98 floppy probably wouldnt have dos either?

No, you Win98 floppy is a boot disk, it has what's need to boot the PC and give you a CL prompt, but it's not a full version on DOS.

Boot off the XP cd. During the install process you can format your drive.
