Prime example of what I was talking about right here. Generalizations and attacks on someone, and is that middle America "bashing"? I believe so. And to top it off the post has absolutely nothing to add to the discussion other than to "bait" someone into a "flame war". With all of this internet lingo I might as well call it for what it is: "troll post".

Look at the distribution of people who support/don't support Bush/Iraq/etc. and sadly higher percentages ARE in middle America. Does that mean everyone supports Bush in middle America? No. But a majority do.

And I clearly stated the "with us or against us" mentality is why the weak minded of this country bash the French. The French didn't support our war in Iraq, they ended up being right about all the intelligence while we were WRONG, and so they take their jabs when they can instead of admitting their folly.

Lets see. . .who whined and complained about Bush going to war against an innocent muslim nation (Iraq) and now who has muslims rioting in their streets? Congratulations, France, you were right about the intelligence after all. Now here's what you've won. . .NOTHING! Have fun with your rioters.

That is what the mentality is. It is just too hard for some people to keep it to themselves. The French are well enough aware of how this looks without people rubbing it in.

Yes, the French really got the short stick on the deal.

Thousands of rioters, torched cars, torched businesses << $300 billion war, decade long occupation, 2k dead, 15k wounded

I wish we could trade a few weeks of rioting for a decade of death and destruction in Iraq.

I'm Belgian so I'm probably the closest thing to a French dude on this forum :p

this thread shows how pathetic some people are. Its a silly parody thread in OT that I started a few weeks ago and here are some of the posts

No, they're kinda like French, but slightly less cowardly.

Belgians make great Beer, chocolate, and awesome guns......kind of hard to figure the gun thing since they are basically just like the French.

No more annoying than the blame America tirades we see here everyday.

QFT.

So, because some americans say things about their own country that you disagree with, you have to bash the French to get back at them?

see my above post for "ridiculously contradictory rationalizations"...

Um, it has nothing to do with rationalization. One isn't tied to the other.

It has nothing to do with "sides". My comments were based on the OP's characterization that it was annoying. So I dare say you should take your pompous BS and stick it because I don't play that game of least worst.

Why must people bash the French? Which country had a four-minute shutdown of the ENTIRE nation in memory of those lost in 9/11? France. They shut down everything out of respect and sympathy and all they ever get back is hate. I wish people would grow the fvck up.

Why? Mostly insecurity, bigotry, low IQ, and too much watching/listening to O'Reilly. These usually go together.

French fries are off the menu for US legislators
French fries in the House of Representatives' cafeterias will now be known as "freedom fries" as part of a Republican protest at France's opposition to a war on Iraq.
Republican representative Bob Ney, whose committee is in charge of the eateries, said the action was "a small but symbolic effort to show the strong displeasure of many on Capitol Hill with the actions of our so-called ally, France".

French toast from now on will be known as "freedom toast".

Now the guy responsible for starting the ban on french toast and french fries is against the war in Iraq - go figure

Our Politicians are those spoiled rich kids who were never disciplined and were always told they were better than everyone else.

The funniest thing I've seen in a while was in a dispenser in the bathroom at a bar. For $0.75 you could buy a "Freedom Tickler".

Then again, i don't think i've heard any criticism of france, only bashing.

For some people, criticism = bashing. I've seen plenty of criticism here.

umm, a 2 week long riot? thats bashing in itself. (no pun intended)

All I've seen is the discussion of what underlying causes are there to such behavior. If you want to take that as bashing, go right ahead, but you'll want some thicker skin if you r going to spend any time on these forums.

With all the french bashing and calling them cowards, pacifists etc. I think a few in here should read about one of the greatest american heros and George Washingtons right hand man in the war that founded our country. Marquis de Lafayette

Please educate yourself before talking such nonsense.

He was a young man like many in here and led the Untited States to victory against the biggest military and empire in the world.

Without the inspiration and youthful confidence of this young Frenchman many say General Washington would have given up against such great odds.

What is the relevance of mentioning those who bash America? There is only the slightest of relevance, in that both situations involve bashing a specific country. It's just a pathetic attempt on your part to justify the bashing of France because some people bash your country. Your side. You refuse to simply accept criticism of anything that would be done by your side. Unless, of course, that acceptance can be turned into a criticism of something else entirely, in order to divert attention from your own shortcomings, as well as excuse them.

 You can try to place that intent on it if you wish due to your own partisanship but that doesn't mean it's the truth.

Also, you can whine and moan about what you think I do, or think, but it doesn't make it true. Your claims about me not accepting criticism of my "side" are incorrect and a flat out lie. What is also a lie is that I have attempted to justify any bashing of the French. Please provide proof of your allegation as I've already asked for once.

Overall, your attempt to bash me failed miserably because you didn't bring the truth, you brought your partisan opinion and tried to infer things about me and my posts.

The second response was mine, and I was just joking around. I like Belgium. I bet I am one of the few people on this board who has actually been there. I used to live in The Netherlands. I love Brussels, and I have actually seen Manequin Pis......the image of that statue has remained in my head for 35 years. My favorite guns are from Fabrique Nationale. I was JOKING.

Emmanuel Goldstein. Stupid, petty, spiteful people need a fictional figure into which they funnel all their hate. Ever since the riots started, the a large part of the right here has resembled those rallies in 1984, complete with the ridiculously contradictory rationalizations of their hate. Its nothing new, they did the same thing back in 02/03, when the 'French' hate-figure was constructed so that they could focus on one country, instead of acknowledging the entire world was against them.

You can see this in this thread as well. They like to think its because of "the failure of liberal socialism", while being ignorant of the fact that France lacks any form of AA and most forms of PC, two of the most hated aspects of "liberal socialism" in the US and that these riots are largely because of they don't have these things.

And what of The Plan? Of course, there is nothing in the world France can actually do which they could approve of. If they try to police the riots, they're being wimps, if they start killing or deporting people, the same lot of 'tards will be screaming "racist genociders!!!"

It would be very amusing watching how these people think, if it weren't so sad...

This from the guy who said that after 9/11 we should have agreed with the Taliban's request to have Bin Laden tried in an international court and then if convicted, they would dutifully hand him over.
