ok whats going on here - 60D and 430EX issues

I recently got a 60D a few months ago and last night was the first time I tried putting on the 430EX for some shots. I had the camera in Tv, with the shutter speed set to 60 and ISO to Auto. But whenever I tried metering with the 430EX on, the shutter speed would change to something like 5 or some other low amount. This doesnt happen without the 430EX.

Whats going on here? Is the TTL metering not working with the 430EX attached?

Are you sure that you are not screwing up between aperture priority & shutter priority?

Leave in the setting as it is and try using the built in flash to see if it change the setting. It could be a simple mixed up between Av & Tv mode, or it could be something has to do with multiple flash/off camera flash setting in the camera body.
