ok...what the hell is the XFL?

I've seen ads and just saw an article at espn.com about it, but they didn't say what it is. I even went to xfl.com and looks like the WWF has ties to it too, but nothing informative??? Is this a real sport or what?

can someone fill me in?

yeah, i think it's supposed to be pro football league without all the NFL rules that protects players. ie. player is supposedly able to hit helmet-to-helmet, without getting penalized. i predict we'll see a lot of paralyzed players. (or worse)
