OK, so I've got my new Athlon PC going. Cheap and cheerful: ECS K7S5A, Athlon 1.333GHz, cheap 256Mb DDR, a few cards, one HD, one CD. But I've already put an Alpha PAL8045 heatsink on, with the quiet Papst fan. The BIOS (and MBM) report 44C idle temp. Running SETI@home for 10 minutes pushes that all the way to 49C, so I ain't cooking the CPU, but after about that long I'm getting system crashes, randomly-timed BSoDs.
I think my non-approved 300W PSU can't cope; the core, memory and 3.3V lines all look OK (off by about 0.02V), the 5V is at 4.85V, the 12V at 13.1V(!) and the -12V at -10.1V(!!!).
So, am I right, and where do I get a cheap, quiet, AMD-approved PSU in the UK which will sort me out?
