On two systems I ran the win me defrager and hosed up the system. First my wifes box (generic mobo amd k6-2 with a 20 gig maxtor) after running the frager getting tons of errors mostly in kernel32. Format and reinstall.

On my system (kt7a rain same hard drive 1 gig tbird @ 7.5x133/33) windows lockups and requiring I hit the actual reset button as I could not even ctrl+alt+del out of it. On restarting that way it would not find my drives most the time (it would see both of my cd drives though). If I would go into the bios and just exit out with out making any changes I could get to the windows scandisk screen on occasion. I would cancel the scan and then get msgsrv32 not responding. prety much have to reset button again and repeat that loop 4 or 5 times. so I flashed the wz.b01 bios and let it restart and run scandisk with the thourough setting (surface scan) and the next morn when I got up I could restart normally. Been 2 days since I flashed and scanned no issues yet.

NOTE: I did have the patch from the windows update site for that issue with scandisk, looks like it dont work right though.

Not sure if the bios flash fixed it of if letting the defrag fixed it but I really think the scan is what did it cause I still tried to restart a couple of times after flashing and before scanning and those two restarts were messed.

Hope this helps out some.
