Ok, wait a minute. Vr-zone is saying 24pipes 10vs for the X1800XT

I'm going to have to believe Anand and KK on this one. I'm expecting a 16 pipe, 600mhz chip.

Besides, if ATI is having yield troubles, why would they jump from a 16 pipe XL to a 24 pipe XT?

It's increasingly likely to turn out that VR-Zone is really confused, and AT (and B3D before) is really crazy like a fox.

LOL. The controversy and speculation won't stop...

To ATi: RELEASE THE DAMN CARD SO PEOPLE WILL SHUT UP ABOUT THE "16-PIPES, NO, WAIT, 24-PIPES, AND IT'LL PWN 7800GTX"!!!

Look, its all just frickin speculation at this point, so until we actually get a card, please refrain from comments like "ATi Rulz and NVIDIA Sux", "R520 will absolutely PWN 7800GTX".

too much to hope for 🙁

except you forget they're mainly ZOMGTHEr520ISONLY16PIPES=teh sux0r 😛

From the next page over lol:

http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2695

We heard that GeForce 7800GTX will compete nicely against the Radeon X1800 XT therefore we can expect their performance should be pretty close. There isn't a need for NVIDIA to bring out their Ultra version as we learned. In comparison, the 7800GTX has 24 pipelines while X1800 XT has 16 pipelines and the former is clocked at 430Mhz core / 1.2Ghz memory while the latter is clocked at 600MHz core / 1.4GHz memory.

vr-zone is really quite pathetic. Looks more and more like as many have stated for months, the r520 was designed as a 16 pipe card and it was a soft ground issue that delayed release, not leakage and heat. So the big question is how can 16 pipes compete?

I think ill believe a more reputable source(Anand) rather than VR Zone...why dont we just wait another week or 2 before this card gets released.

You can tell it's made up because the Pro specs are higher than the XL specs. ATi's hierarchy clearly puts the XL above the Pro, and AT/KK's recent info stuck to that trend.

Soft ground issue? What does that mean?

The Inq did this as well when they announced that the XT and Pro would have 512mb VRAM and the XL would be 256, I think it's partly ATI's fault because they release too many iterations of their cards, it's confusing for consumers and apparently is also confusing for some sites.

This made my day... Probably the funniest thing I had read today so far 😀 I can just see even the engineers being confused over this... Just how many fricken pipes DOES the card have? 😀

I'm so sick of this speculation, goddamnit ATI just fscking release the damn specs of the card or send some for reviews. I don't even care if you are ghost launching at this point, I'm just tired of hearing these same rehashed rumors.

The only reason I said that (NOT to start a flame war) was because I'm tired of practically every forum I go to having the same damn threads of people fighting over who's right and who's wrong when it comes to the specs of the "X1800" (R520). Everybody's wrong until there's ACTUALLY a card in our hands, Specs AND performance-wise.

Why are you blamming ATI? They are having a press day in a couple weeks then they are going to launch in a few weeks. Everyone who really knows anything is now under NDA and you won't get anything reliable until launch. So if you don't want rumors then turn off your computer for 3 weeks and go sit in the dark.

X1800XT specs or more speculation?

The card will have whatever it has. Then we'll get real benchmarks and real prices. I don't care how many or how few pipes, gutters or shingles they have on the damn thing to get it to perform. I don't care which company has the best card, the cheapest card and the best price-to-performance card. Just real-world cards for sale from real-world vendors with real-world prices for me to choose from.

The 7800s are plenty damn fast. The 1800s will be plenty damn fast. The ones that are a bit faster will be a bit more pricey. The ones that are a bit slower will be a bit cheaper. Previous generation cards followed these rules. Cards from the generation after this will follow these rules. Speculating now when ATI isn't willing to give firm facts is like listening to 'tween girls argue about which member of the boy band is "teh hawtest." Actually the 'tweens probably have some of us beat in maturity, because they at least take a look with their own eyes before coming to conclusions.

The ground was all squishy and stuff. They had to make it harder (or more firm if you will).

So they need to "Cialisize" the ground?

That's it? Well they should have checked out my hotmail inbox, that woulda saved them months of delay...
