i know this question has been beat to death, but i cant seem to play quake 3 with vsync on. It isnt nearly as smooth and i loose fps. I dont know but when i have vsync on the framerate is ultra smooth and my MOUSE MOVEMENT is much improved!!! any body else have the same experience???

Well when Vsync is On it limits your max frames per second to your current monitor refresh rate. When it is off, it will go as high as the machine can make it go! 🙂

Even if you were at a sh1tty refresh like 60hz, that is still 60fps max which is very playable. Don't know why with vsync on it runs that bad.

Turning V-Synch off is only a good idea for benchmarking purposes. When turned on, it assures that screen updates are synchronized with monitor redraws. That way, there's no tearing.

Dont be a pussy 🙂

Leave Vsync Disabled

It may tear here and there, but it really isnt that noticable. It allows for maximum performance and fill rate usage. It is really only the way to run your new card like a geforce2 gts at the highest fps possible at the maximum resolution.

Bottom line listen to Axel 🙂
