Disk Manager MMC snap-in rules! I've done other stuff (net browsing, irc, email, etc. - nothing heavy) while formatting one partition at a time on different drives, but not tried two drives at the same time, or two partitions on the same drive at the same time.Originally posted by: Lord Evermore
There's absolutely no problem as far as failure/damage to the format. Though if you're formatting a partition on the same physical drive as the partition(s) that you're making use of, boy does it slow things down. If they're on another drive, then you'd only notice a minor slowdown.
I actually tried to format two partitions on the same drive once. Rather than just halving the speeds, it brought them down to something like one-quarter the full speed of a single format.
The joys of not having to use DOS to format.
How long did it take? 😕 Do you mean first time format?Originally posted by: dpopiz
I was just formatting a 70GB partition with NTFS, but I was very actively using the comp while it was doing this. Is that ok? could actively using the comp while it was formatting make me have trouble with the partition in the future?
