OK to remove these? (McAfee Virus Scan)

Trying to keep from running as much of McAfee Virus Scan 6.x as possible on a friend's PC. It's slowed down their P200 w/ 64MB, Win95 (above requirements) to about half speed. Even moving the mouse pointer around is slow every few seconds. Also causes a 1-2 minute pause when booting right before or right after (cant remember) desktop appears.

Are these needed?
In registry,
under HKLM....Run/alogserv.exe
and RULaunch.exe /start monitor
under HKLM....Runservices/ausynmgr.exe

One strange thing, there are two default items in the system tray, the VS Shield thing they've always had, and something new in 5.x or 6.x called Guardian. Right clicking on the guardian icon, there is a an option to not load it on startup, but it will not let you uncheck it. Removed it once from the registry and it got put back next boot.

Also, is the email scanner really needed if you use Netscape email? And wouldnt the regular virus scanner catch infected exe's send through email anyway (if not using Outlook)?

All we use in our environment is the system scan which is HKLM....Runservices/ausynmgr.exe and something called McShield. It will catch almost anything because it scans the tmp files created by Outlook when you open an attachment.

Get rid of the alogserv.exe link in the registry -- I know on my 'puter, it was a major resource hog that often was causing blue screens... Don't need it for sure.
