I have a live recording of a Mitch Hedberg show that I would like to share with others on the board in the wake of his passing. It is not a commercial release so I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, but wanted to check any way.

ONLY if you get both songwriter publisher clearance and recording artist publisher clearance. Publishing to the web requires licensing and usually a royalty fee for doing so based on volume and traffic. Start at ASCAP or BMI.

Having done synchronization rights for video with just songwriter clearances, expect the process to take about 3 months...

And no, I do not believe the system works or is reasonable, but just telling you what it is.
