Ok to mix different brands of DDR?

I thought I read somewhere that there may be problems mixing brands of DDR. Not sure if I'm remembering that correctly. I currently have a SOyo Dragon SY-K7V and 1x256mb Micron PC2100, and am wanting to buy a 256mb stick of Crucial DDR.
