I made a thread recently about songs to play on subs - since I got my two 12" put in yesterday afternoon. Anyhow, I've had work done by the same guy before in my z28, and he's a real nice guy and seems to do pretty good work - so I tipped him very well on the sub job. anyway basically all that was done was hook up an amp, two subs in a box, and hook everything up nice and clean.. all on the stock lancer sound system. so i have the standard head unit (cd player) + the standard 4 speakers that come with the lancer, which are very good as it is.
any how... everything was cool. Until I noticed a VERY weird and annoying quirk. So i'm drivin around and I pull in my driveway finally, and I just turn down and turn off the stereo before shutting off the engine, as I usually do. So then I'm thinking okay I'll just have a look at my new toy, open the trunk .. VVVVRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! WTF? I turn the key back and turn the radio back on, and right as the radio turned on the noiise stopped (coming from the subs) and whatever the radio was playing played normally.
WTF? someone please care toexplain as to what this could POSSIBLY be? he just fudged up the job, or is this something i am gonna have to live with? I don't want to have to keep the radio on explicitly every time i want to open the trunk and happen to have my key in the ignition... sheit.
so what do you think? I'm gonna get a hold of the guy when possible (he's not always there) and consult him about this - but it's pretty damn annoying considering I just bought two 12" subs + a box + an amp + a big tip for the guy. so wtf. please tell me you guys out there with subs in your cars don't have this quirk.. :Q i haven't noticed it in anyone ellse's car though so i doubt that.
anyhow.. yea, just needed to vent a bit. I tested it out again just to make sure it wasn't some weirdass one-time screwup thing.. it does it consistently. and it's a REALLY loud humming or whatever you wanna call it. i don't like that. WHY the hell would the subs do that when i pop the trunk, with the key in the ignition? it makes no sense. would it be because i have the stock radio and for some fvcked up reason it screws things up? I mean wtf the stock sound system is perfectly fine I dont want to spend another $300+ just for a stupid tackyass head unit and/or speakers.
