Ok, this is wierd. I just figured out that a poem I wrote 7 years ago was already written by someone else. I am 100% sure when I wrote this poem that I didn't plagiarize it at all. I wrote it from scratch and it took me two weeks to find the perfect words. When I wrote it, I always stared at Mindy (but that's another story) :) But, after I read the song from 1965, the wording is exact! I'm missing the middle part of my poem cause I lost it. Hey, give my a break, the papers I wrote is 7 years old and suprised I never threw them away. My middle section was totally different though. Some of the lines were missing, but the wording was exact! Kinda disappoints me because for all these years I have unknowingly copied someone elses work. Not only that, but this is like the greatest poem I ever wrote. Ok so I am crappy writer. ;) I am really suprised that the teacher didn't catch it at all.

My poem from my Highschool English Class 7 years ago.

The shadow of your smile when you have gone
Will color all my dreams and light the dawn
Look into my eyes, my love, and see
All the lovely things, you are, to me

all the joy that love can bring
shall turn an icy winter into spring.
I will be remembering,
the shadow of your smile

See this song. Written in 1965 by Frank Sinatra??? 1965! I wasn't even born yet!

original song

3:35! geez! I better go to bed.

You know what they say, if you give a group of monkeys typewriters and A LOT of time, sooner or later they will have written Hamlet.

BTW: I like your poem.

More than likely you read or heard the poem somewhere years earlier, but simply forgot all about it. Then, when you tried to write your poem, you subcontiously remembered the old poem you liked....... Nice poem though.

That looks really similar to something I wrote in my English class about 10 years ago. They posted it on the bulletin board. Perhaps you read my poem and then copied it. Royalties start at $100 per copy.

Weird .. I'm sure there is some reasoning for it ... maybe you fell asleep watching tv one night or the radio and that song came on and embedding in your subconcious .... I once had this nightmare and described it to my dad and he was like ... thats a movie ... and I was like I've never seen that movie ... turns out it had come on while I was asleep and my brain sucked it in and made me start dreaming about it..
