Hiya guys. Got a new Vantec 6035D HSF with a Delta screamer on it. It is just shockingly loud...I know the reviews said it was loud but my god. Anyway, what's a good fan I could put in here which would offer up similar cooling performance without my room sounding like Dulles Airport? Also, how difficult is a fan switch? Just a simple swap?

Thanks.

thats a 60x60x25mm fan? their are a buttload of fans that have a lower CFM rating along with a lower dB rating....

plycon has many different fans to choose fan of various sizes.... i'm sure one will suit your needs.

There are also hardware monitor programs out there that will adjust fan speed based on CPU temp. I have a loud ass delta fan as well, but it rarely runs above half it's rated RPM -- and at that level it's quieter than my 80mm case fans. If my cpu gets hotter than a pre-defined limit, the fan will kick in full force. On a P3 650 running at 910, this rarely happens. It never happens during web sufing and general gaming...hardcore FPSs will cause the fan to ramp up every once in a while.

Obviously, the propriety of this setup depends on your computer usage and your CPU. If you're running a highend, super heat generating AMD cpu under full loads a lot of the time, it probably wouldn't be worth it. Still, it might be worth a try before switching fans.

Yeah, it was too loud for me too... I changed it with a Thermaltake TT-6025 21 CFM @ 28 dBA 4500 RPM, 3 Pin, and it works great...

Spook

I use Asus Probe, which ships with most Asus mobos. I believe other manufacturers provide similar products. You might even be able to use Asus Probe with any mobo, but I don't know that for sure -- it's available for download from the Asus site. Check your mobo manufacturer's site as well.
