OK thinking about taking the wireless plunge

OKAY first off. after researching what i am dealin with here (at my uncles in california) i have decided that wireless would be the easiest and most pain free way for me to network his house and allow his dsl to be shared among 6 computers and a server.

ok. first off i need to find a good wireless router so i can connect the modem into the network. what is a very good, secure, decent ranged wireless router?

then i will need wireless network cards. i believe usb ones will be easiest so as to connect to the computer and be able to get a better signal.

now the problems.

the wireless router will need to cover the whole house. it isnt to big, its a californian neighboorhood home in oakland. it will be located most likely in the basement where i was originally gunna set up the wired router, however that plan didnt pan out cuz of how everything is wired. so i need the wireless router to be able to go through max of 3 walls, and minimum of one floor. will the wireless router be able to do this?

so what would you recommend?

o yea, i would need to have everything by monday or tuesday, as i leave for home on wednesday @ around 8pm so i need to teach everyone here what to do if something goes wrong, so i need 1 day for my trial and error, and 1 day for teaching atleast.

There are no big differences in range for the typical wireless routers. I have had good functional luck with the netgear mr814, but others will say the same about other makes and models, so it is up to you on that regard.
If you can steal one run from that wired system (ugh, I read your other post!), and place the router on the same floor as most of the clients, you will have a better chance of getting good coverage. If you place the router high up on that floor, you will have a better chance of avoiding interference from appliances, etc.
Try to hook at least one computer to the router directly with wire.
