OK, the new Napoleon Dynamite show is terrible :(

It is what it is.

It's an animated extension of the movie. I think it succeeds at doing just that. I don't know what the hell people were expecting. or is it just ATOTers like to complain about friggin everything. It actually seemed to fit in after the Simpsons-Family Guy-American Dad sunday night.

It is not an extension of the movie in any way besides the characters names from what I could see. I don't feel the movie concept would translate well at all to an animated series but its not as if they tried to do that anyway. Something more along the lines of a King of the Hill style, grounded in reality universe could potential have worked and still captured some of the charm of the original movie but it was quite clear from the commercials for this that they went more looney toons than anything like that.

The show is really just an abomination of an idea. Far to late to be relevant and completely oblivious to its source material. It looks like it was written by some one who hated the movie.

I agree, but I thought the same thing about that Alan Gregory show, and I actually liked some of that. Anyhow, I tried watching about 10 minutes of the Dynamite one and it is terrible. Considering Fox's cancellation MO seems to contradict my taste in TV, I am not really that surprised Napolean Dynamite is still on the air, or that Alan Gregory was cancelled.

That is the best cartoon on TV at this point, by far. By far! It is better than most sitcoms as well.

I'll take more napolean dynamite any way I can get it. Obviously most of you haters just don't get it, and that's fine. I hope they give it enough time to figure itself out.

Also, bobs burgers and american dad are both currently better shows than Family guy and Cleveland (which was never very good). Bobs burgers has a lot of fast paced subtle humor that will go right over your head if you're not paying attention.

Took me 3 sittings to get through the movie - I figured with all the hype I had to see what it was about - terrible from the start to the finish. A HS project gone horribly wrong is what I equated it to.

I just assume the people watching Fox's animation Sunday are severely overweight, argues on the internet about chicks with pointy elbows that are not hot enough for them, spends enormous amounts of time playing video games, and lacks any social life.

I'll take shitty reality shows over Fox's formulaic crap animation.

The movie was inexcusably awful, the cartoon looked about 20 times worse, and it's coming out 7 years after Napoleon Dynamite had any relevance. Yeah, I could've told you it was going to suck.

I think the show is ok. They take a weak concept from the movie and turn it into an episode. It needs new content. I thought the movie was hilarious the first time I saw it, the 2nd time not so much but it still has its moments.

The movie blew. This is one of just 3 movies that I can remember not finishing in my lifetime. Heck, I even watched Skyline to the finish, but not Napoleon Dynamite.
