Ok Sonos - I get it now

I've wanted one of their players for a while now but they were pricey enough that I held off despite all the raving reviews. $140 + $20 GC for the Play 1 was finally enough to get me to pull the trigger

All I can say is that all the claims of 'It just works' is right on the money. I was a bit leery of how well it would wirelessly stream music from my account controlled server but the process was almost completely painless. I say almost because while it found my router attached storage it didn't find the server. All I had to do was manually enter the path and it started indexing the collection.

I was very pleased that setup was so easy and straight forward. The Play 1 has a pretty nice sound profile to it as well for such a small size. So I am pretty much in complete agreement with all of the 5 star reviews.

We picked up 4 Play 1s on the Target deal (20% off coupon, 5% Redcard, 5% pharma, $20 store credit) deal. It took me 15mins to get one of them working and only that because I have added security for WiFi. Once I got through that it was a piece of cake adding in Pandora, Amazon and playing from my phone microsd. Now I just need to add our itunes and finally get my Plex system running.

We were talking about wiring the rest of our house with speakers but this really eliminates a lot of that. We just have our living room wired now. I was thinking of doing basement myself but am seriously reconsidering at this point.

I am thinking of going with the Playbar and wireless subwoofer but the big downside is that the Sub is $700 for a mediocre one compared to an SVS like I already have. Plus - easy to use, integrate, seamless online interaction. Negative - no 3rd party subs.

Old receivers + old speakers + Bluetooth adapters works for any room I walk into. Phone, laptop, desktop etc. connected to my home network. Music everywhere and easy local control and cheap since the only "new" things are the adapters.

I picked up two black Play 1s at the Target sale a couple of weeks ago. We already had 1, and my wife wanted to be able to sync Christmas music to 3 different rooms in the house. It works really well.

Yeah, but that sort of solution doesn't give you that whole home audio feel, with the ability to walk from room to room and have the music all in sync.

Sonos's are pretty awesome for what they are. And I don't even own one.

Yep, I just got a Play 1 from Amazon, a white one on a lightning deal. 5 minute setup. This thing is awesome; 24 hours after getting the first, I already want a second one. 🙂
