What is the best as far as price of operation is concerned?

C'mon catch an anandtecher up on this branch of technology and what I should purchase.

My wife wants one. It will be hooked to a puter. She likes to mess with paintshop, so will print from computer.

Personally, i wouldnt bother with one. With local places charging ~ $0.15/print, its probably not worth the expense. Last time i checked, they still came out to ~ $0.45/print or so.

I'm kind of curious about this myself. I might actually have room for one of these on my desk, unlike my full-sized Canon i850 😛

I thought the same, but I've found I never bother to go get stuff printed. With my printer, I always remember to. If I printed tons of photos though, I'd definitely go with store prints to save money.

Epson PictureMate. Don't even consider anything else. I worked at Staples for about a year and this one was consistantly sold out and had the best customer reviews.

isnt the epson ink though and not dye sub?

Upon further reading on print costs, the new canon's seem to be ~$0.30/print, not bad... I dunno though, i'd still rather have no upfront cost and pay 1/2 price for 1 hour prints...
