I should also add that I dont particularly like philly cheese steaks. I think they are kinda boring. And the cheese is unappealing to me. I'd rather have a cheeseburger. That has the same american cheese, but its just better on a cheeseburger than a cheese steak. If I do eat a cheese steak, I make sure to order it with onions, pepper, mushrooms pretty much whatever topping that have plus some hot sauce. Its not as boring that way.

really depends on how they're done... I've had some godawful dry and bland cheesesteaks for sure. there's a deli by my office that makes a great one, though -- juicy meat, marinara sauce, and provolone cheese.

I would never eat a Philly cheesesteak, because I hate the fucking Eagles and they are from Philly.

Didn't realize how many people didn't know what American meant until this thread.

Ok...so thats an "italian" cheese steak and sounds 10x better than shaved steak and velveeta

If by made with care, you mean put hotdog on a stick, dip in cornmeal batter then fried, you are correct.

yet many places still fuck that up (how thick is the batter? how long do you fry it for? is the temp correct? how fresh is the oil?)

I've learned over the years that I just don't like apple pie... not sure what it is. I used to think that I just didn't like my mom's apple pie, but I've had many from different sources and never once have I really enjoyed it compared to, say, a strawberry-rhubarb or peach pie.

I'm getting where I don't care for bacon. I used to love it and it was kind of a treat, but now its way too many things. I don't hate it, but its not like it used to be for me.
